Norwegian Almond Cake

As a Norwegian American, I love introducing people to Norwegian recipes (especially the sweets!)
This recipe is so easy, light, and fluffy. It’s a great one to bring to a party or to make as a gift or as a rainy day treat for your family♥️
🛒What you’ll need🛒
- 1 1/4 cup flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cardamom
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp almond extract
- 2/3 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) melted salted butter
- 1 egg
- almond slivers
♥️toppings♥️
- berries (I like strawberries or black berries)
- homemade or store bought whipped cream
🍴How to make it 🍴
- preheat oven to 350F & grease a 9x5 bread pan
- combine sugar, egg, whole milk, and almond extract until creamy/smooth
- then add in flour, baking powder, cardamom, and butter. mix throughly until dough forms.
- pour and smoothie mixture into the greased pan. Top with almond slivers.
- bake for 30-45mins. Check on the loaf at 30mins. When done, bread it will rise and develop cracks on the top.
- take out of the oven and let cool. generally transfer loaf to a plate and slide. top slices with whipped cream and fruit of your choosing.
